Best of Serendipity (April 2024)

It's a scraggly little thing, but this dogwood is faithful to be pretty in every season.
It's so nice that these ladies (and Pete) can roam freely around the yard and woods all day.
This little piece of ground has rested all winter. It's time to wake it up.
The ground is ready to go!
The plants are ready to grow!
Little Fancy-Like is sitting on a few eggs.
Thanks for stopping by, my dear/deer.
Pretty!
Oh, Pete!
Colorful hillside.
Colorful roadside.
Silly Eleanor!

Best of Serendipity (March 2024)

Yellow is the color of March. Daffodils cheer everything up.
The forsythias bushes are across the driveway, but they're bright and beautiful.
The redbuds bring purple trees that are so pretty that they don't look real.
Onions! They don't look like much yet, but they'll be tall soon.
Our little pond is surrounded with pine trees.  They drop the prettiest pine cones.
These ladies have been leaving nearly a dozen eggs every day!
Pete has been crowing nearly a dozen times every hour of the day!
I do love hearing the sound of windchimes.

Best of Serendipity (February 2024)

Pete's a good rooster.  He keeps a close eye on his hens.  But he does crow all day and all night.
There are almost always deer in the field as we walk around the bend.  They stand completely still and stare until one stamps, they make a sneeze sound, their tails go up, and they run off.
When the weather is warmer, there are more eggs in the boxes each day.

Best of Serendipity (January 2024)

They're the same on the inside, but so pretty on the outside.
All is still and quiet on a snow day.
When snow starts to fall, the cardinals come out.
As I watch the deer from my kitchen window, they watch me too.

The snow brings the cardinals out.
The chickens do not like the snow one bit.
If the chickens won't step onto the snow to eat the birdseed, the squirrels will.

Best of Serendipity (December 2023)

My colorful little flock...
Zeb, Fancy-like, Elenore, Trudy, Beauty, Judy, Pip, Vendi, Twinkle, Pauline, Jolene, Foxy, Ruby Jean, and... Pete.

My Sharing life with creatures of the forest is great... until they bother the chicken coops.  Then they get to go live in a different forest.

Best of Serendipity (November 2023)

The tree at the end of the driveway is fabulous in every season.
It doesn't take long until those yellow leaves let go.

Every day.
Squirrels are so quick! and never pose long for photo ops.
Pretty little backyard flock.

Best of Serendipity (October 2023)

A hillside of happy hens... and Pete (the rooster).

Mushrooms pop up over night in the fall.

Okra blossoms are the prettiest.
So lucky to have autumn.
Crisp fall evenings beside the chiminea.
When the neighbor drains his pond,
turtles come looking for a new home.
Hard not to stop and stare when pulling into the driveway.
Mushrooms come in all shapes and sizes.

Best of Serendipity (September 2023)

Such lovely neighbors who stop by.

Funny little hens, always sticking together.

Dominique... Such a good Mama hen.
Funny squirrels...
also annoying when they get interested in my vegetables.

Weary-but-still-producing garden
Friendly little back porch partners hoping for a treat.

Garden is getting tired, but still producing!

Best of Serendipity (August 2023)

Chickens in the backyard... a peaceful sight.

How can a zucchini grow this big without being noticed!
He crows all morning... and afternoon... and evening...
Chicken in the pot.
They found fresh dirt to take a bath in.
Such pretty vegetables!
